Environmental Assessment for Wesleyan Chapel Preservation Treatment Available for Public Review and Comment
Posted Tuesday, June 13, 2007
An Environment Assessment/Assessment of Effect that outlines and identifies a National Park Service preferred alternative treatment of the Wesleyan Chapel is now available for public review. In March 2006, the National Park Service initiated a process that identified strategies to enhance the long-term preservation and visitor experience at the Wesleyan Chapel, site of the 1848 women’s rights convention. Through an informational newsletter and public meetings, ideas were gathered to achieve these goals. The result was development and evaluation of a range of alternative treatments, including one preferred by the National Park Service. The document can be found at http://parkplanning.nps.gov. To request a written copy, please call 315-568-2262. A public meeting on the alternatives for treatment of the Wesleyan Chapel will be held on June 20, 2007 at 7 PM, at the Women’s Rights NHP Visitor Center at 136 Fall Street Seneca Falls, NY. Comments on the document may also be submitted through the above web address or in writing through July 13, 2007.
