Seneca Falls Development Corporation Announces New Director
SENECA FALLS, NY - 8/14/07 - The Seneca Falls Local Development Corporation today announced the appointment of Robert Buccieri as the new Director of Economic Development for the Town and Village.
"Bob brings years of experience in both the public and private sector that speak to our need to better position Seneca Falls and assure continued economic growth," explains August Sinicropi, the President of the Board of Directors of the Corporation, "We are fortunate to have someone with Bob's experience and enthusiasm direct our efforts and coordinate the resources of the Town and Village to further strengthen our economic foundation."
Buccieri most recently served as the Executive Director of the Downtown Schenectady Improvement Corporation where he managed downtown marketing, revitalization and beautification efforts, as well as retail and marketing development. Buccieri has a home in Rochester but plans to also maintain a residence in the village.
"The demands of the position are such that it requires me to be available to stakeholders as much as possible," he explains, "Also, there's no better way to get a feel for the rhythms of the community than to live here. I am looking forward to moving in and to have a place here in Seneca Falls to call my home."
When asked about what drew him to the position, Buccieri offered, "The two strongest economic engines in Upstate New York are the Canal system and the continuing development of the Finger Lakes wineries, Seneca Falls and Seneca County has a distinct advantage of having both of these in our community. Add to this the historical legacy embodied in the Women's Rights National Park and the National Women's Hall of Fame and you have the basis of a very exciting economic opportunity."
"The LDC feels that Bob's background in economic development, marketing and coordination along with his front line experience with the Upstate business community made him particularly well qualified for the challenges ahead, " explains Sinicropi.
Buccieri's short term goal is to better understand the issues and opportunities, "I have a lot of listening to do, but also applying the experience of the customers and communities
I have worked with all across New York State," Buccieri observed, "But there are hundreds of people who have lived the challenge and have ideas to share to help build the future of Seneca Falls and these are the people I need to learn from, and I expect the next few weeks will involve many meetings of this sort."
His first day on the job was Monday although he has attended several local meetings to better prepare for the position. His first task is to make appointments around town to meet with stakeholders in the Town and Village. "1" planning to attend downtown business meetings, meet local retailers, representatives of the wineries, and our elected officials at all levels of government as well as the largest area employers. All in all, the calendar should be pretty full for a few weeks.
