Boaters Enjoy Stay at Seneca Falls Canal Harbor
Tuesday, August 9, 2005
I'm motivated to write this letter because we appreciate the moorage to the wall in Seneca Falls along with the power and water. It is handy to tie up downtown and for groceries and places to eat. We have stayed longer than we should and the reason for that is that we had the printed circuit board in our generator fail. This happened in Tonawanda so I ordered a new part there and while in Seneca Falls the company n Tonawanda called and said the part was in. I told them to send to us in Seneca Falls and as I write this it hasn't showed yet.
The stay here has been pleasant. We have talked to many boaters while waiting and all have said this is a very good place to be. Most boaters eat their evening meal in the surrounding restaurants. The long distance boaters also buy groceries. One boater is going to use a local attorney. My wife and another gal on a boat like to make forays to the downtown stores. I tried to use a local dentist but there were no openings in their schedule on such short notice.
We feel that Seneca Falls has gone well beyond the call providing all the services it does. We have heard of no complaints and lots of praise.
I feel the canal would have more use but a lot of boats can not get under the bridges in the western part of the state. It is discouraging to see so many relatively new bridges built so low. It would seem that the state should have a long range plan to build higher bridges and remove unused bridges. I realize that if can't happen quickly because of but too bad that the newer bridges weren't build with that goal in mind.
We have come down from Ketchikan , Alaska in our boat La Cumbre and will return to Ketchikan . We thank the people of Seneca Falls for their hospitality and all that is provide on the waterfront.
Sincerely,
Dean and Helen Waterman onboard our board La Cumbre,
