Water Department Public Notice
The Seneca Falls Water Department has temporarily discontinued Chloramines as of 8/11/17 as the disinfectant treatment process for our water supply. Due to the continued and unusual temperature of Cayuga Lake it is necessary for us to continue with Free Chlorine. This is a temporary change, and as soon as the lake temperature returns to normal we will gradually return to the Chloramines treatment process. Quality water is a vital to our residents and businesses. The only change you may notice is a stronger chlorine odor while we are using the Free Chlorine disinfectant process. Senior Citizens Water/Sewer Credit Program
The Senior Citizens Water/Sewer Credit Program is a program that requires an annual application, as well as income verification. The program is based upon income and consumption levels, and allows for a discount of either 25 or 50 percent. If eligible, the credit will be applied on the next billing cycle after it is approved and will not be retroactive for a bill that has already been posted.

Effective immediately: The Town of Seneca Falls through combination of the old “Village” and “Town” of Seneca Falls Codes has created one uniform code, applicable to all residents. Inflow / Infiltration Inspections (Aka Sewer Inspections) are now required to be completed on all properties in Seneca Falls and all areas serviced by the public sewer of the Town. Procedure dictates (§230-64), that inspection be completed prior to the transfer of a property and to comply with code §230, Articles IV and VIII. The main purpose of the inspection requirement is to prevent stormwater from entering the wastewater sewer system that is ultimately treated at the Town’s wastewater treatment plant. This is required to ensure compliance with the NYS Department of Conservation. If you have any questions or concerns regarding the Water and Sewer Codes, please contact the Water Department at (315)568-6211. All Code questions can be research at or you can contact the Zoning & Code Enforcement Officer at (315)568-8013 for information.

The Seneca Falls Water Department will use, the "Hyper-Reach" emergency telephone notification system to inform residents of emergency water issue such as, boil water advisories and water conservations needs, as a way to reach residents quicker when an issues arises. This is the same system that the Seneca Falls Police Department uses in conjunction with the Seneca County and the Sheriff’s Department. Mobile/cell phone users must register for this service in order to receive notification. Users have the option to receive audio messages, text messages or both along with an email alert. Registration takes a few minutes and all information is kept confidential. All hardline users will automatically receive these notifications. Click here to register.
